We believe that word of mouth is the best form of advertising. This is what professional educators, who have experienced adventures with Little Brown Kiwi, are saying…
"LBK was a fantastic organisation that truly catered to the providing the most adventurous, action-packed itinerary for the kids without overwhelming them with activities that they could not handle. Excellent organisation all around! I would certainly return again for the same expedition!"

"Thank you guys too for making this experience so enjoyable and taking such good care of us!"

"I have been lucky enough to have travelled with Little Brown Kiwi on 3 occasions and each time I am blown away by the mix of professionalism and flexibility of the team.
Henry lead our most recent trip, and from the very beginning, he was on hand to support the organisation and ensure everything was in place prior to our arrival. From the moment we touched down on New Zealand soil we were very well taken care of and it always impresses me how quickly he learns the students names (how does he do that?).
The accommodation was of a great standard, providing a safe place to recover from the days’ excitement whilst offering the students opportunities to build their independence and fostering strong team bonds. The activities were age appropriate, safe and well regulated whilst still offering the level of challenge and adventure the students thrive upon. The mixture of cultural, environmental and adrenaline filled activities offered opportunities for each student to grow on a range of levels.
The Little Brown Kiwi guides have an innate knack for recognising the range of personalities within the student group and being able to relate to each of the students on an individual level. This builds a strong sense of team from the get go, and this in turn allows the students to broaden their comfort zone and try new experiences.
I’d highly recommend Little Brown Kiwi for school group trips to New Zealand."

"As someone who has brought students on trips to New Zealand with Little Brown Kiwi for four years in a row, I can tell you that LBK is an outstanding Outdoor Education company. Their top quality guides, extensive knowledge of New Zealand as well as the various adventure activities available make all the difference. From planning logistics to adapting to individual student needs, they are simply the best. Go with LBK & your students will have amazing learning experiences they will remember for a lifetime."

"My school has been working with Little Brown Kiwi for the last two years. LBK has put together two amazing trips in New Zealand that our students are still talking about and they will never forget. Paddy, Henry and the guides were superb with the planning and made sure every child was catered and cared for but at the same time challenged through a variety of activities. Our students were on the go from as soon as we touched down in New Zealand to the time we boarded our plane back to Hong Kong.
I am very thankful to LBK for teaching our students about life skills and conservation in the most beautiful country in the world.
A truly outstanding company that New Zealand should be proud of."

"December 3rd 2015, 4 staff (myself included) and 23 G12 students set off on an ELP trip of a lifetime. Our students are predominantly from mainland China and HK and for the most part never considered NZ a place of interest.
When we arrived, Paddy treated us with the full blown kiwi hospitality and general awesomeness and our students took to it like seagulls to chips! They had no idea what was in stall for them. I don’t want to spoil it for you, but Queenstown is the adventure capital and if you’re looking for an experience where it will push your students to their limits, then you must look no further! This trip had a profound effect on me as a teacher and as a person. Seeing my students really stretch their comfort zones to the point of tears, self-doubt and reservation was touching. However, when followed with emotions of self-belief, satisfaction and gratitude after accomplishing activities that they never thought was possible, is what LBK set out to accomplish.
Now put aside all the amazing food, games, laughter and experiences, Paddy and H will always go the extra mile to ensure the staff and students are happy and safe! For the staff, there are absolutely no worries! Everything is taken care of and you are along for the journey.
A true testament to their professionalism is when they thought our goodbye at the airport was the last time we would meet, however, a cancellation to our flight threw a spanner in the works. While my colleagues were organising the next flight, I phoned Paddy and sure enough (off the clock), they picked us up, took us for dinner and organised accommodation for the night! Brilliant!! LBK is number one when looking for a company to provide you with a once in a lifetime experience. I look forward to our next adventure."

"LBK turned a highly enjoyable expedition and tour into a truly magical one. Their professionalism, individual care and capacity to build a genuinely warm relationship with all members of our group resulted in one of the most memorable experiences of our lives.
We will certainly be hoping to work with LBK again in the near future."

"Little Brown Kiwi has been working with our school for the past 5 years – first with our "Adrenaline Tour" and most recently with a Fishing Expedition and an "Into the Wild" Outdoor experience. James, Henry, and the entire LBK team have left lasting impressions with our students and staff. They have been excellent partners in our High School Interim Week. They go beyond just the outdoor activities and dig deep in having students select personal goals and exceeding what they felt they were capable of. Their ability to touch the most experienced outdoor enthusiasts AND the least shows true educational heart. Every year we see them connect with students needing extra TLC – sometimes it is their personal encouragement to get them to jump off the top deck of the boat or more simply, the guitar-led karaoke in the evenings. Their patience and positive outlook rubs off on the whole group.
LBK is flexible in designing a program that suits each school/group's needs and their yearly evaluation allows us to analyze the experience and tweak the itinerary to suit the group needs. Team building games and challenges during down time are always a highlight with "LBK Masterchef" and a Bowling competition leading out on our group favorites this past spring.
Since much of our Adrenaline tour is geared to get students out of their comfort zone, I have found LBK to have safety foremost in the preparation and planning. The low student-adult ratio means that students get maximum supervision in activities such as the Ledge Swing, Luge, Climbing and the challenging hike and overnight camp out. Our school offers over 20 choices for Interim Experiences and every year this is one of the most popular choices.
We find LBK to be one of the most professional providers we work with in Africa, Southeast Asia and Australia/New Zealand. To quote the "J-man" (Justin Kwan). "I love New Zealand. The Adrenaline Tour is the best – why can't I sign up again next year?" Sorry Justin, we have to give the other 150+ kids standing in line a chance."

We have worked with James and Little Brown Kiwi for the last seven years. Our College Expeditions with this company to New Zealand have proven to be a great success and are regarded very highly amongst our community. 400+ of our students have taken the opportunity to visit New Zealand and experience the many adventures that Little Brown Kiwi plan for us – quite simply our students love and thrive on the experience. We are now considering running two expeditions from Singapore to NZ each academic year as demand from our students is growing.
I regularly meet with James Lovegrove and review our procedures for the expedition. As everyone appreciates, the relationship between Trip Leaders (Teachers) and trip providers (in this case Little Brown Kiwi) is of huge importance. A clear understanding of everyone's roles and responsibilities is essential and James works extremely hard to ensure everyone has a clear picture. He does this in a very careful and professional manner and offers a level of 'transparency' that we very much appreciate.
Kurt Hahn founded our school’s movement along with many other wonderful organizations aimed at increasing students' love of the outdoors. Working with James and LBK helps us foster the philosophies of this great man. LBK have the same beliefs.
I would not hesitate to recommend the services of Little Brown Kiwi."

"I have taken students ranging in age from twelve to fourteen to New Zealand for the past two years, using Little Brown Kiwi as the service provider. LBK paced the itineraries for variety and excitement, and planned for the complete safety and the comfort of the participants. Each day included dazzling scenery and thrilling adventures.
LBK staff were good-humoured, warm and generous, and their enthusiastic participation in the activities increased the fun. They created a safe and supportive atmosphere so that we teachers and our students felt comfortable trying even the activities that challenged us, whether those were Bungee swinging, surfing, rock climbing, camping or even mixing and socializing with our fellow travellers from other schools around the world.
The LBK guides were also adept at helping students reflect on their experiences so that personal growth and character development were integrated into the trips. The educational components were also terrific, with interactive activities led by Maori leaders to introduce us to Maori culture and history. The night on the Marae was a highlight of each of the trips. LBK seemed to have friendly relationships not only with each other and the trip participants, but with the activity-providers and the staff at our accommodations and at the places we stopped for meals. Events flowed seamlessly, or so it appeared to us teachers.
Little Brown Kiwi understands its clients. The leaders communicate well, prepare fully, and are flexible and responsive to individual schools and students’ needs. My students rave about the LBK trips. One of my students reflected afterwards, “Stepping off that plane and visiting New Zealand was the best thing I have ever done in my life. I was challenged in so many ways I could have never imagined. The trip made me feel anything was possible. I only wished we never had to leave.”

"Through my involvement as the trip leader for two Little Brown Kiwi adventure tours to New Zealand, I have found the experience to be nothing less than first class.
The support and flexibility of the LBK staff was a real strength. They were always happy, got along extremely well with the students and know what kids like. All the activities were carefully planned with safety and enjoyment being essential ingredients of our successful trips. Nothing was too much trouble for the LBK staff to ensure our students had the best time. Good quality food, great accommodation and a variety of challenging, relaxing and educational activities made these trips a real highlight for our students. The planning and efficient operation of the entire trip made my job all the more enjoyable.
A highly recommended trip for students in Middle School or Junior High School."
“Little Brown Kiwi rocks! These guys work with the very best adventure operators in the business, so you know you are getting a top quality experience. We can’t wait for our next big NZ adventure.”

"Little Brown Kiwi is a great trip provider but, more importantly, their guides are great educators. They push beyond wilderness adventure and make kids reflect on what they are doing and why they are doing it, getting out of each student a remarkable depth of self-reflection.
I love working with Little Brown Kiwi not for what they have kids do, but for the way they get kids to think."

"Little Brown Kiwi staff were extremely professional in their approach. Their attention to detail and the monitoring of health and safety issues was first class. The LBK staff had a real intuitive feel for the needs of our students and were always supportive in challenging situations without allowing the students to take the easy option. The reflective feedback at the end of our trip was evidence that our young people had achieved much personal growth in such a short time. I was amazed at how confident some of our quieter students had become.
There was flexibility in the programme that catered for our students and the whole trip felt very personal. The toughest part was saying goodbye at Auckland Airport to Henry and Fritter.
See you again guys. Thanks."

"The trip itself was superb – helped in large part by the amazing sunshine and blue skies we were greeted with for 7 out of the 8 days we were away. Naturally, I told every student that this was quite normal for New Zealand!
As they have been copied in, I would like to thank Patrick, Henry and Anna for their outstanding work and support of our students (and staff!) when we were away. The three guides formed trusting and positive relationships with the group very quickly and unsurprisingly (they were all teachers once upon a time) learned everyone's name within the first two days.
You added a huge amount the experience so a big thank you from the staff and parents alike."
"UWCSEA East in Singapore has been travelling with Little Brown Kiwi for four years now and every trip has been unique and a true adventure. The organisation is faultless.
The staff and guides are always very approachable, friendly and patient. It is amazing how quickly they learn names and are able to relate to all of the students' individual personalities. Their energy levels and sense of fun is incredible, while at the same time maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
Little Brown Kiwi's activities are an exciting balance of adventure, challenge and cultural experiences. They have a flexible attitude and are adaptable to individual needs. This is evident both before and during the trips.
High safety standards are strictly adhered to for the full range of activities, including transport and accommodation. We have been lucky enough to stay in a variety of lodgings and students have always been happy, warm and well-fed.
For many of our kids, this is the trip of a lifetime and one they will never forget. It is amazing to see the reaction on our students' faces as they experience the best New Zealand has to offer! It is wonderful to see the boost in self-confidence in such a short period of time as they enjoy the heady combination of adrenaline and achievement."

Well, the kids are back home. Jane is taking a well-deserved nap right now. I wanted to tell you that she could not stop talking about what a fantastic time she had, all the things she was able to see and do, and about how great all the counsellors were.
Thank you and the staff for a once in a lifetime opportunity and for all the things you did for the kids. She will be telling her grandkids about the time she went to New Zealand and all the people she met there."
"Phenomenal planning and professionalism created an experience never to be forgotten.
Henry and his LBK team engaged our Young Round Square adventure-seekers in every aspect of our journey. Each child was able to foster independence, participate in democracy, and witness awe-inspiring sights. Their focus on the unique, fragile environment of New Zealand continues to encourage our students in their daily lives. Involvement with the Maori culture and Stewart Island service aspect of our trip transformed our students to become more caring young adults.
Our faculty and staff wholeheartedly recommend Little Brown Kiwi to anyone fortunate enough to travel the beautiful country of New Zealand."

"We have worked with Little Brown Kiwi twice and on both occasions they have been amazing! Our students have thoroughly enjoyed every adventure and challenge they came across. The experience allowed our students to thrive and blossom in an awesome environment.
I look forward to planning many more adventures."

"HKIS has been taking our students on LBK trips for many years now, often with 3-4 trips simultaneously on the ground in various locations. I've been privileged to go to Queenstown twice for the Adrenalin Tour. The degree of flexibility and willingness on the part of LBK to craft the perfect trip is outstanding. With visits to our school in Hong Kong, answering countless emails and a willingness once in New Zealand to respond to our requests, the trips were perfect.
Once in New Zealand, the trip details were seamlessly executed, allowing our students and teachers to throw themselves into each experience. The LBK guides created an easy rapport with our students, helping to create a cohesive group and shouldering the leadership. The wide range of cultural, conservation, adrenaline, and outdoor activities broadened our student's experiences while safety was always highest priority.
I would highly recommend LBK to any school looking for a first class experience."

"Please accept my thanks for yet another highly successful Eco-adventure tour in July. As expected, LBK performed above and beyond expectations in delivering an experience to my students which covered the best that NZ has to offer. The wide variety of activities and adventures, the faultless organisation and the highest levels of professionalism and skills exhibited by LBK guides and suppliers all added up to make the tour a memory of a lifetime for those 26 students and 3 staffs who were fortunate enough to participate.
This is my third tour with LBK and I will have no hesitation in renewing our relationship with you when our next tour comes around.
Thanks again for all that you have done, your organisational ability, your unflappable nature and your sense of humour which we kiwis love but my students barely understand and tolerate!
Please pass on my best wishes and thanks to Henry, Paddy, Fritta and Taz who make a superb team to support you.
Here's to 2014!”

"In over 30 years of international travel, I have never dealt with an adventure coach like Henry Ballantyne who was so thorough and pleasantly engaging. Everything went like clockwork. LBK was first class all the way!
How refreshing to deal with professionals who plan well and see service as their primary goal. You served so well with your choices of guides, bus captains, meals and activities. To say the least, the bus captains were good humoured, well-informed and extremely helpful and careful with driving. I so deeply appreciated your attention to detail and willingness to accompany our group through thick and thin and through sunshine (and no rain!).
Our students have been ‘transformed’ in ways I can write a book on each of them! The students and teachers overcame fears, accomplished what they didn't think was possible and built valuable relationships on their adventure in the land of breathtaking views, immersed in a fantastic respect of culture. We have not stopped singing your praises since our return!! You and your staff were so personable and nurturing throughout the trip.
It was very hard to leave New Zealand. I am sure I am not the first one to give LBK such compliments. Once again you have made this experience an extremely memorable and educational one for all of us.
I highly recommend our school to continue using the professional services of LBK again for the 6th year."
